Seedfolks June 2, 2025
Seedfolks, a book by Paul Fleischman, tells the story of a community garden through the perspectives of its diverse visitors and contributors. After reading the novella, approximately 180 Geneva sixth-grade students wrote their own memoirs, sharing personal anecdotes and highlighting a place that they feel represents community. On April 7th, the group explored the city and took photographs that reflect their personal sense of belonging! Seedfolks: A Spotlight on the Geneva Class of 2031 brings these projects together into one exhibition, showcasing the importance of community and celebrating the various ways that it manifests in our own home! This exhibition was made possible thanks to PSAG’s partnership with CCESL, Geneva 2030 and the Geneva Middle School.
To celebrate Pride Month, this week-long pop-up exhibition traced the history of the LGBTQ+ community on campus. Pulling from the archives, documents consisted of articles about the first LGBTQ+ theme house, students’ written accounts of homophobia and feelings of community, and photos from Coming Out Day celebrations in the ‘90s.
Connected from Afar showcased artwork inspired by students’ summers and celebrated the ability of HWS to unite us. Despite the different places we are in, people we are with, and things we are doing, we are all connected by our ties to the Colleges.
