Frequently asked questions

This FAQ will address commonly asked questions about a student’s account, including how to access billing statements, view payment information and more.

Q: What is a student account?
A: A student account is an online record that tracks all charges and payments related to your enrollment at HWS. This includes tuition, fees, housing, meal plans, financial aid, payments made, and refunds received.

Q: When will I receive my bill?
A: The fall semester bill will become available in early July and the spring semester bill in early December. Please note, the Student Accounts Office uses electronic billing only; paper invoices are not mailed.

Q: How do I view my billing statement and make a payment?
A: To view the billing statement the student must first set up their account through their Student Center in the PeopleSoft portal. Your student will also need to grant you access to our online payment system, Nelnet Campus Commerce. It is a quick and easy process. Instructions can be found on our Setting Up an E-Billing Account page. Once the account is set up you will be able to view the current account balance, the billing statement, make a payment, or set up a payment plan.

Q: How do I set up a payment plan
A: Once the student grants you access to their Nelnet Campus Commerce account, and you have received your own log in information, your payment plan contract can be set up within your Nelnet account. You can find details on our 5 or 4-month plan as well as instructions on setting up the plan on our My College Payment Plan page. Please note there is a $30 enrollment fee per semester.

Q: Are there other payment options besides the payment plan?
A: Yes. You may combine any of the options below to assist in paying down the net cost.

  • Parent PLUS loan - This is a federal loan taken out by parents on behalf of their dependent undergraduate student to help cover educational expenses.
  • Private Education loan - These are loans offered by banks, credit unions and other private lenders. These loans may be in the student or parent’s name.
  • 529 Plan

Q: Where can I send my check payment to:
