Criteria for selection include an independent body of scholarship attained within the first five years of their appointment as independent researchers and a demonstrated commitment to education. Provides an unrestricted research grant of $100,000.	February
Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences (must be nominated by institution). Awards based on accomplishment in scholarly research with undergraduates, as well as a compelling commitment to teaching. Provides an unrestricted research grant of $75,000.	August
Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation Machine Learning in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering The Dreyfus program for Machine Learning in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering provides funding for innovative projects in any area of Machine Learning consistent with the Foundation’s broad objective to advance the chemical sciences and engineering. The Foundation anticipates that these projects will contribute new fundamental chemical understanding, insight, and innovation in the field.	April

National Institutes of Health Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Award (R21) R21 awards encourage exploratory or developmental research by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of project development. The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering offers a special Trailblazer R21 award for projects at the interface of the life sciences with engineering and the physical sciences. National Institutes of Health Academic Research Enhancement Award (R15) AREA awards support biomedical and behavioral research projects proposed by faculty members at institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees, but have not been major recipients of NIH support.	Various
National Institutes of Health Individual Fellowships for Senior Fellows (F33) F33 fellowships provide up to two years of support for experienced scientists (at least seven years of research experience beyond the doctorate) who wish to make major changes in the direction of their research careers or who wish to broaden their scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities. In most cases, this award is used to support sabbatical experiences. Individuals must arrange for acceptance by an institution and sponsor who is an active investigator in the area of the proposed research.
