A FOCUS ON HEALTH

Gain insights and experience in health care through the Health Professions minor at Hobart and William Smith. Particularly suited for students majoring in the natural sciences, you’ll take a variety of interdisciplinary courses that provide new perspectives on health care and related topics. Acquire the tools necessary to tackle emerging issues that impact health care and health care access and take them with you to a career or post-graduate study in medicine.

PHIL 156 BIOMEDICAL ETHICS

Learn the ethical issues that arise in the practice of medicine, in the delivery of health care, and in biomedical research and their special urgency.

SOC 224 SOCIAL DEVIANCE

Explore the social etiology of deviant behavior, the functions of deviance, and societal reactions to deviance. Take an interdisciplinary approach to the internalization of norms, guilt, shame, punishment, and conformity as they relate to deviance.

WMST 305 FOOD, FEMINISM AND HEALTH

This class uses a feminist lens to explore a variety of topics arising at the intersection of food, health, and the body.
