HEALTH CENTER SERVICES

The Hubbs Health Center's services are designed for all minor injuries and unexpected illnesses. The health center is staffed with highly qualified and experienced physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff who are ready to provide on-the-spot care for orthopaedic injuries, dental pain, minor wounds requiring sutures, minor cuts and burns, sexually transmitted infections, urinary tract infections, colds and flu-like illnesses, sore throats, earaches, and cough.

Illness and Injury

The students' insurance will be billed for services rendered at the Hubbs Health Center. No students will be turned away from receiving health care, regardless of what their insurance is, including self-pay. Some injuries may require a referral to an outside physician or hospital.

If you have any questions please call the Hubbs Health Center at (315) 781-3600.

Reproductive Health Care

This service includes pelvic and breast exams, pap smears, testicular exams, STI testing and treatment, and contraceptive counseling. Any labs done will be sent to Geneva General Hospital and will be billed by them. Hubbs Health Center can prescribe birth control, offer free condoms and, starting on Oct. 1, 2022, will carry the morning after pill.

PREGNANCY AND ABORTION CARE

If a student is seeking termination care, the Hubbs Health Center staff is able to facilitate the care that you need. This includes lab work, appointments and transportation to Planned Parenthood located in Canandaigua. The Hubbs Health Center is also available to assist in facilitating post-procedural care needs. Should a student wish to be transported to Planned Parenthood without seeking prior or post-care at Hubbs, they can simply call Hubbs or the Counseling Center to request transportation. No questions will be asked.

The Hubbs Health Center also provides sexual health education and testing for sexually transmitted infections for you and your partner. Hubbs Health Center can prescribe birth control, offer free condoms and, starting on Oct. 1, 2022, will carry the morning after pill.

HeyJane is an online clinic offering legal abortion through telemedicine. Students seeking the two-pill medical abortion have access to HeyJane and HWS will cover the cost. Students wishing to use this service should contact Hubbs for a “HeyJane” appointment. Medication abortion is available up to 10 weeks of pregnancy. The Hubbs Health Center can perform lab work and set up appointments and transportation if a student needs confirmatory testing or ultrasounds. Neither HeyJane nor the Colleges bill insurance for the medical abortion service.

If a student prefers to meet in-person with a provider, the Hubbs Health Center can facilitate an appointment and transportation to the Canandaigua Planned Parenthood. The Health Center staff stays in close contact with Planned Parenthood to monitor the wait times and ensure our students are able to be seen in a timely fashion.

Gender Affirming Virtual Health Care

The Colleges work with Folx Health to provide gender-affirming care such as hormone replacement therapy.  Students seeking this service should contact the Hubbs Health Center and ask for a Folx Health Care appointment. A representative will reach out to facilitate the Folx registration process. Neither Folx Health or the Colleges bill insurance for this service. Hubbs Health Center will provide the required laboratory check-up appointments at no cost.

Laboratory

Hubbs Health Center does have limited in-house lab tests. These tests include urinalysis, pregnancy, rapid strep and rapid flu. There is a fee for these tests to be done at Hubbs. The health center does offer blood draws daily. They will sent to Geneva General Hospital lab and it will be billed to the students insurance by Geneva General.

After hours Urgent or Emergency Care

As expanding on-campus health care on weekends is not currently available due to the shortage of medical providers regionally and nationwide, we will maximize the available resources to make weekend health care options more available, including easier transportation to urgent care afterhours, TeleHealth options, and communicating financial resources available for health care needs, such as co-pay waivers and reimbursements. The most important thing is that if you are sick after hours that you seek appropriate medical care.  FLH Urgent Care offers a variety of services and transportation is available by contacting Campus Safety at 315-781-3000.
