27 June 2019 • Athletics Hobart Lax Earns Academic Honors

Nineteen members of the Hobart College lacrosse team were named to the 2019 Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll, including five who earned a spot on the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll. The Statesmen have earned 115 NEC Academic Honor Roll awards and 25 Commissioner's Honor Roll awards in their six seasons in the conference.

Seniors Gerald Flood, Kevin Goltz, Franklin Marquet and Tyler Skretny and sophomore Drew Blanchard represented the Statesmen on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Hobart's Class of 2019 not only led the team to 11 wins, the most in the programs Division I history, but also led the way in the classroom. Nine of the teams 13 seniors were on the Academic Honor Roll, including seven who were making their fourth straight appearance. Goltz and Skretny headlined the senior class, making their fourth consecutive appearance on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Senior Franklin Marquet was a three-time Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree while classmate Gerald Flood twice earned the distinction.

To earn a spot on the Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 through the end of the 2019 spring semester. To merit a spot on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Hobart was 11-5 overall this year. The Statesmen were second in the Northeast Conference regular season standings and the runners-up in the NEC Tournament. Hobart used an explosive offense to break the programs Division I season records for goals (223), assists (148) and points (371).
