9 May 2025 • Athletics Iasenza to Play Professionally in France

Forward on the three-time national champion Hobart Statesmen hockey team Matthew Iasenza '25 will play with the Dogs de Cholet. 

Hobart hockey forward Matthew Iasenza '25 recently signed a professional contract with Dogs De Cholet in the French Division I Hockey League.
 
"Matt will do very well with his new team," Head Coach Mark Taylor said. "His 200-foot game and the speed and tenacity at which he plays is very special, as our fans witnessed for four years. We will miss that and they will love it. I couldn't be happier for him."
 
Iasenza played in all 30 games this season, guiding the Statesmen to their third-straight national championship. He recorded 12 points on eight goals and four assists this season. Iasenza's biggest goal of the season came in the national semifinals, where he pocketed the game-winning goal as Hobart defeated Geneseo 2-1. Following the championship game, he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Iasenza had mult-point games in wins over Oswego and Castleton.
 
Iasenza played in 91 career games over his four seasons in Geneva. He compiled 46 points on 20 goals and 26 assists. He helped Hobart to a 106-11-4 overall record, four NCAA tournament appearances, four NEHC regular season titles and three NEHC tournament titles. As a junior, Iasenza scored an empty-net goal in the national championship game against Trinity. He recorded a career-high 16 points during his rookie season. As a sophomore, Iasenza had eight goals and five assists through 19 games.
