7 August 2025 HWS Fulfill Helps Students Prepare and Save Each Semester

The HWS Fulfill Program provides all course materials in one simple service.

The beginning of a new semester brings fresh energy and excitement, and thanks to the HWS Fulfill program, securing course materials is easier and more affordable. Instead of worrying about rising costs or tracking down hard-to-find books, Hobart and William Smith students can enjoy a streamlined more affordable process that sets them up for success on day one. In fact, the program saved HWS students nearly $500,000 during the 2024-25 school year alone.

As part of HWS’ commitment to academic and financial support, HWS Fulfill consolidates all required textbooks and materials into a single service for a flat rate. At $225 per semester—$56.25 per full-credit course—students receive all required materials at a consistent, predictable price, regardless of the cost of books elsewhere.

According to a recent student survey, 92 percent of respondents report the service is helpful. Students surveyed saved nearly 42 percent on course materials.

“(This program) definitely took the weight off my shoulders,” says a first-year student. “It made sure all of my books were accounted for, and I didn’t have to stress about it,” adds another.

Students also appreciate the convenience of picking up materials before classes begin and returning the borrowed materials at the end of the semester to the College Store. In fact, 86 percent of students reported feeling better equipped for their courses, and 81 percent stated that the program has had a positive impact on their academic success. As one student explains, “Being able to quickly grab all my books at the start of the semester allows me to be better prepared for the first classes than some of my peers.”

About the program, Vice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students Becca Morris says,“The student feedback makes it clear that HWS Fulfill is more than just a convenience; it’s a valuable tool that helps students finish each semester strong and saves them money.”

While most students choose to participate, the program is optional, and students can opt out prior to the start of each term. For more information, go to https://www.hws.edu/fulfill.aspx
