The Princeton Review ranks HWS #10 in the Nation for Best Career Services.
From personalized advising to powerful alumni connections, Hobart and William Smith students are finding the support they need to thrive after graduation. At the heart of this effort is the HWS Career Network, a robust database of alumni and parent volunteers that connects students directly with experienced professionals who mentor, advise and open doors.
That comprehensive approach has earned HWS the #10 ranking in the nation for Best Career Services, up from #17 last year, according to The Princeton Review’s “Best 391 Colleges: 2026 Edition.” The ranking is based on student experiences and satisfaction from 179,000 students nationwide and is part of a broader showing that placed HWS in the Top 20 across nine categories.
In their survey responses, HWS undergrads boast their school has “an extremely high job placement rate.” The college, they note, “works so hard [helping] students … find jobs in the fields [in which] they want to work” and continually fosters a “really good alumni network” to boot. They describe an “outstanding Career Services Office,” which is “extremely supportive and provide[s] everything a student could need to be successful in a job interview.”

For students unsure or undecided on a career path, several exploration programs help students along the way, including job shadowing, the Career Journeys alumni and parent speakers series and Career Treks to explore industries during winter and spring breaks. And with support from the Guaranteed Internship Program, every student completes at least one internship or research experience during their four years.
Headquartered at the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, HWS’ career programs guide students through the Pathways Program -- a structured system designed to help them assess their interests, build relevant skills and connect with employers, graduate programs and the HWS network. The Salisbury International Internship Award provides students with up to $20,000 each to pursue internships or research abroad. Leadership programming, entrepreneurial studies, the IdeaLab, and business competitions further equip students with the tools to navigate and lead in the evolving landscape of 21st-century careers.
The colleges and universities profiled in The Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges: 2026 Edition” constitute only 15% of the nation’s nearly 2,400 four-year institutions, explains Editor-in-Chief Rob Franek.
