ADDITIONAL Instructions:
- Clean your phone’s camera lens before recording and shoot in landscape (horizontal) orientation, not portrait (vertical). So, just turn your phone sideways.
- If possible, record using the camera on the rear of you phone. It’s a higher quality.
- Don’t wear anything with a super busy pattern. It can create a distracting moiré effect in the camera.
- Pick a quiet location with minimal background noise and put your phone in Airplane Mode to prevent unwanted distractions.
- Your phone footage will look best when you shoot with lots of light. If you’re shooting indoors, adding supplemental lighting will go a long way. Facing a window and using natural light is great. Just do not shoot with a window or other bright light source behind you.
- Be aware of your surroundings and what’s in your shot. Avoid shooting in front of a blank wall.
- For better sound, keep the phone within 3 feet of you when speaking.
- When filming yourself, use a tripod and have the camera a little higher than eye level. If you don’t have a tripod, let a friend hold the camera for you.
- Look into the camera lens.
- When recording, wait a couple of seconds before speaking to settle yourself. Do the same when you’re finished. Wait a few seconds after you’re done speaking to end the recording. It’s easier to edit.
- Don’t forget to smile.
- Do not email or text the clips from your phone — they will come across at low resolution, instead please submit video files using this link.
- Try to keep your video to one minute or less.
