When I started at HWS, I was overwhelmed by the endless opportunities available to me. At the time, I could not have imagined the many ways in which I would be able to embrace the vast experiences that came from such opportunities. I am grateful to HWS and the unwavering support I received from both faculty and staff as I forged my path during my four years there.

At HWS, the Center for Global Education offers a wide-range of study abroad programs, which ultimately supported me in spending a semester in Mendoza, Argentina—a country and city I may not have otherwise been able to explore. During my four months living there, I fell completely in love with the people, the language and the culture and I was hungry for continued language immersion. After graduation, I moved to Madrid, Spain, where I spent a year teaching English at a primary school. It was an incredible period of both professional and personal growth, and was a crucial step in my budding career as a Spanish teacher.

My role as Orientation Coordinator at HWS sparked an interest and passion for event planning and management, which fueled my success the past two summers as I tackled the role of programming and events coordinator at EXPLO, a six-week immersive learning program for middle schoolers at Wellesley College. Within this role, I planned and coordinated evening events ranging from on-campus water parks to four square tournaments, a cappella performances and student talent shows. In addition, I taught a course titled “Logic Puzzles + Math” that followed an exploratory learning model.

In my current role as a Spanish teacher at Lexington High School I am able to share firsthand knowledge and abroad experiences with my students. We celebrate and honor diverse peoples and cultures, and my hope is that students become more inclusive, global citizens in the process. I am forever grateful to the Education Department at HWS. The mentorship, guidance and coursework opportunities that I received at HWS have provided me with the confidence and skills necessary for success in my teaching journey.

I am currently applying to graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Administration. I reflect on my HWS experiences daily, and am motivated to inspire, challenge and positively impact others in similar ways that HWS did for me.
