During break, Professor of History Clifton Hood talks to second graders in a public school in Manhattan about the history of the New York City subway, on which he has written a book. Hood’s most recent publication “In Pursuit of Privilege: A History of New York City’s Upper Class and the Making of a Metropolis,” has received significant national and international media attention. - Geneva City Manager Matt Horn accepts a check from HWS Colleges President Mark D. Gearan. A recent analysis by the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities said the Colleges’ total economic impact in 2015 was $269.2 million, an increase of about $25 million since 2013.
