Students in Professor of Education Jim MaKinster's class Teaching and Learning with Citizen Science participate in the Hurricane Maria Mapping Project, which enables users to access online mapping tools to assess building damage on the island of Puerto Rico. The resulting data is then used by governmental and relief organizations. -
The Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell statue at sunset. In 1849, Blackwell graduated from the medical school of Geneva College (Hobart’s precursor) as the first woman in the country to receive a medical degree. (Geneva College was renamed Hobart Free College in 1852 and Hobart College in 1860.)
