A statue of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell sits on the outskirts of the Quad. In 1849, Blackwell graduated from the medical school of Geneva College (Hobart’s precursor) as the first woman in the country to receive a medical degree. Geneva College was renamed Hobart Free College in 1852 and Hobart College in 1860.

Sara Monti, the Italian Fulbright Teaching Fellow; Tatjana Bröker, the German Fulbright Teaching Fellow; and Emila Gilly-Grellier, the French Fulbright Teaching Fellow, present a history of the relationship between Franco Italian food and traditions in the Common Room.

The William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Economics and Chair of the Economics Department, Bill Waller teaches class in Stern Hall on Tuesday morning. The editor of the Journal of Economic Issues, Waller recently returned from Cambridge University where he served as the Helen Cam Visiting Fellow at Girton College.
