Chad Kilvert ’20 studied abroad in Freiburg, Germany through an IES Abroad program in environmental studies. Through the Julius G. Blocker '53 Fellowship, Kilvert researched sustainability practices in the city.

Third place in the Portrait category was a three way tie. Here, Ali Turner '20 captures a proud local catching and releasing a fish in the village of Song De Vong, Vietnam. Turner also won in the Landscape category and is pictured earlier in the TWIP gallery.

Djeneba Ballo '20 studied abroad in Dakar, Senegal. While there, she took classes in Wolof and French, and maintained a blog - where she deconstructed myths about African life and culture.

In this special edition of This Week in Photos, we showcase winning photographs from the HWS Global Visions Photo Contest, and portraits of the students who took them. Tied for first place in the Landscape category, Nicholas Stone '21 captures Lake Bled in Slovenia.

Tolulope Arasanyin '21 wins third place in Street Photography for her snapshot of a man and his cyclo. Taken in Hanoi, Vietnam, the cyclo was first utilized during French occupation. It is now a popular way for tourists to see the city.
