Following his retirement this spring, HWS photographer Kevin Colton L.H.D. ’23 traveled the country capturing the beauty of parks, which make up this week’s gallery. Here, Colton stands in the Devils Garden of the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument in Utah. Not to worry, Colton fans: you can find him at HWS games and he will be teaching a photography class on campus this spring.

Kevin Colton traveled to Utah to capture the 2023 Annular Eclipse. Here, he shows the phases of the eclipse, featuring a “ring of fire.”

In Glacier National Park at night, Colton takes a long exposure of Flathead River. Glacier is a certified “dark-sky park,” meaning there is little light pollution.

This year, Colton fulfilled a longstanding dream on his photography bucket list: photograph Shoshone Falls Park in Twin Peaks, Idaho.

Because Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park is bigger than a football field, Colton says it is best captured from a bird’s-eye-view.
