This week, we asked students to show us their favorite places on campus. Ryan Pero ’25 loves the view from the Adirondack chairs overlooking the Quad. Located near Merritt Hall where he takes most of his Education classes, he says, “You never know who you will see passing by. Plus, the view of Coxe Hall never gets old!”

Even though Christina Mohanta ’27 is 7,780 miles away from her home in Bangladesh, “this little corner of the library feels like my own home and study room. It's a place that brings me comfort and a sense of familiarity.”

Originally from Germantown, Wisconsin, Maggie Schlehlein ’25 finds that the benches overlooking Seneca Lake are the perfect place to relax after a busy day. She says the view reminds her of sitting on the shores of Lake Michigan back home.

Professor of Chemistry Kristin Slade and her research students Camila Garcia '24, Lina Hassini '26 and Genevieve Larkin '27 study malate dehydrogenase (MDH), a critical enzyme in the citric acid cycle. In the lab, they purify the enzyme to observe its kinetics under different conditions.

Associate Professor of Music Charity Lofthouse and John Bewley '27 discuss Japanese pop music, with a specific focus on the musical connections between Japan, South America and the music scene of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Japanese artists in Japan.
