In honor of the enduring bonds forged by tradition and camaraderie, hundreds of alums have returned to the shores of Seneca Lake for HWS Reunion 2018, which kicked off on Thursday, May 31. The weekend will bepacked with activities and celebrations, providing alums with the chance to catch up with old friends and explore new spaces on campus and in Geneva. Following informal gatherings on Thursday evening, the weekend activities continue on Friday morning with the HWS Golf Classic, featuring an 18-hole scramble at Clifton Springs Country Club (registration required). The day continues with the Distinguished Faculty Awards, honoring Professor Emerita of Art History Elena Ciletti and Interim President and Professor Emeritus of Economics Patrick A. McGuire L.H.D.12 at 11:30 a.m. in the Vandervort Room.
Among numerous events on Friday, alums can partake in tethered hot-air balloon rides; lake excursions on the William Scandling research vessel; a tour of the American Civil War Memorial designed by sculptor Pietro del Fabro 67 in Waterloo, N.Y.; and class gatherings throughout the evening.
Saturday will include the annual Presidents State of the Colleges address; book signings with six alum authors; local wine, beer and food at the Taste of the Finger Lakes event; Family Fest on the Quad; and classes led by HWS faculty, open houses and more. The evening will conclude on the Quad with live music and fireworks.
This years Reunion coincides with Geneva Music Festival concerts on Thursday, Friday and Sunday in the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts.
Reunion Headquarters, located in Scandling Campus Center, will be open for check in and registration from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday; 7 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday; and 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
