Reunion 2013 General Schedule

The following is a partial schedule for Reunion 2013. Check the website for the most up-to-date schedule. The final schedule of activities with times and locations (including any class specific events), will be available upon arrival at Reunion Headquarters.

Friday, June 7

Excursion I
Three Friday excursions planned.  Professor of Geoscience John Halfman and students will lead a working session assessing the environmental well-being of Seneca Lake.  Event limited to 20 people. Ages 13 and older please – no infants or small children.

Hobart Lunch / William Smith Lunch*
Hobart Dean Eugen Baer and William Smith Dean Susanne McNally, along with their respective Athletic Director colleagues, will host individual “coordinate” lunches.  Hear firsthand what is new with your alma mater, and about all that remains unchanged.

Tour de Finger Lakes*
A mecca for cycling enthusiasts, the Finger Lakes region is renowned for its scenic and cycle-friendly roadways.  This year’s trek will be led by Sal Lilienthal ’88, owner and founder of The Bicycle Company.  For more information about the route, availability of bikes and more, contact Sal directly at info@bicycletours.com or 1-888-711-KENT.

Historic Geneva and Rose Hill Mansion Tour*
Rose Hill is considered one of the finest examples of Greek revival architecture in the U.S.  The popular Reunion activity will once again be led by Geneva native and Honorary Trustee Barbara Lynch Springstead ’57, LH.D. ’90 and will end with tea at the William Smith Inn, the former home of William Smith himself.

Social Network and Career Services: Leveraging LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter

The Power of an Idea:  Entrepreneurial Leadership
Susan M. Pliner, Ed.D. and Amy Forbes, Ed.D. Director and Associate Director, respectively, of the Centennial Center for Leadership, will lead a discussion of entrepreneurial leadership and the ways in which professionals can leverage core tenets, including problem solving, intellectual ingenuity, and calculated risk taking, all from their liberal arts education.

Admissions Officer for a Day
Participate in a mock admissions committee session and play the role of an admissions officer deciding who gets in to HWS and who does not. Admissions staff will lead you through the review of sample applications and deliberations.  For anyone who has an interest in the admissions process, this session will delve into many of the issues facing today’s college applicants.

Interfaith Memorial Service honoring members of all Reunion classes who have passed away since your last 5-year milestone Reunion; led by Hobart and William Smith Chaplain Lesley Adams HON ’12.

5:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Saturday Evening Kids’ Camp*
Children 12 weeks to 12 years old.  Kids’ Camp allows parents to enjoy Saturday evening activities with classmates while their children are in a safe and fun environment.  Children must be pre-registered by June 7, 2013.  Pizza, snacks and beverages are provided.  If your child has special dietary needs (i.e. strained carrots, formula, etc), please bring them along.  No walk-ins will be accepted.

All Classes Reception and Distinguished Faculty Award Presentation
Gather with classmates, faculty and staff to celebrate the late Nick D’Angelo HON ‘59, Professor Emeritus of Music, who will be honored with the Distinguished Faculty Award by the Hobart Alumni Association and the William Smith Alumnae Association.
