Three members of the William Smith tennis team were honored with the first Liberty League tennis awards of the season following Sundays match with Rochester. SeniorCaitlin Chichorawas tabbed the Singles Performer of the Week and juniorMaggie Bonomoand sophomoreAudreyanna Camachowere named the Doubles Team of the Week.
The Yellowjackets won five of six singles matches to knock off the Herons 6-3 in the season opener for both teams.
Chichora logged William Smiths lone singles point, besting Jaclyn Dron in the No. 4 spot. Chichora won the first set 6-4 while Dron took the second set 6-1. Chichora rallied back and claimed the third set 6-3. She is now 5-3 in singles matches in her career.
Bonomo and Camacho rolled to victory in their first match as a doubles team. They defeated Cami Ruiz Vega and Jaclyn Dron 8-1 in the No. 1 spot of the lineup.
William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, March 27, when it heads to the North Country to take on St. Lawrence. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
