Hobart associate head coach Katy Ruderman MHEL '25 helped elevate the Statesmen’s rowing program through competitive success, athlete development and impactful leadership both on and off the water.
Bucknell University recently announced Katy Ruderman MHEL '25 as its next head coach for women's rowing. Ruderman has served as the associate head coach for Hobart rowing since August of 2022.
"Katy has left a lasting impact on Hobart rowing and HWS athletics overall through her work on and off the water," Deputy Director of Athletics Liz Dennison said. "Her time at Hobart has prepared her well, and the team at Bucknell is in great hands with her at the helm. We are thrilled for her and wish her all the best in this next chapter!"
In her three seasons in Geneva, Ruderman helped the Statesmen win four medals at the National Invitational Rowing Championships. Hobart's third varsity eight won a silver medal and the varsity four secured a bronze medal this spring. In each of the previous two seasons, the 3V8 also earned bronze medals. In 2024, Hobart had a varsity four compete at the IRA Championships. The Statesmen finished 14th at the Head of the Charles Regatta and swept the Cayuga Duels to start their 2024-25 campaign. In her time in Geneva, she has helped mentor 20 IRCA Scholar-Athletes.
Ruderman helped build Hobart's recruiting classes, designed and implemented practice plans and race strategies and established a comprehensive coxswain development program.
In addition to her work with the Statesmen, Ruderman will coach the US Rowing Para PR3 National Team in Shanghai, China, this September.
Ruderman earned her master's degree in higher education leadership from HWS in May. In addition to her work on the water, Ruderman helped start the HWS chapter of Athlete Ally. She holds a Level 3 coaching certification from USRowing.
