28 March 2024 New Opportunities for FLCC Students to Transfer to HWS
A new agreement creates a streamlined process for students to transfer from Finger Lakes Community College and pursue their bachelor’s degree at HWS.
Hobart and William Smith recently finalized an agreement with Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) that establishes clear pathways for transfer students to enroll at HWS with an efficient admissions process. The agreement, which strengthens collaboration between HWS and the local community, lays out key transfer requirements and objectives, clarifying for students which courses can transfer into HWS before applying.
“With this process, we want to simplify and enhance the enrollment procedures to continue to bring exceptional and qualified students to HWS and ensure they get the most out of their education,” says Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid Mike Quinn. “We are excited about this increased partnership with FLCC, which will create more access for local students and deepen our relationship with the Finger Lakes community.”
“This agreement allows FLCC graduates to transfer to about 20 programs at Hobart and William Smith Colleges with full junior status,” explains FLCC Vice President of Enrollment Management Carol Urbaitis. “It is important for our students to have more places to transfer without leaving the Finger Lakes region.”
The transfer requirements stipulate minimum cumulative grade point average for admissions, as well as minimum course grades for transfer credits, and policies regarding general education requirements and timelines for completing a bachelor’s degree.
The agreement recognizes the academic preparation and achievements of FLCC students, applying eligible courses and general education credit to the student’s program of study at HWS. Through the streamlined process, students receive clear and realistic recommendations regarding course selection.
