On Friday, Oct. 16, the Department of Music will present a concert for Trustees Weekend at 7:30 p.m. in the Vandervort Room in the newly renovated Scandling Campus Center.
Guitar instructor and accomplished guitarist Kenneth Meyer will lead the HWS Guitar Ensemble in Eythor Thorlakssons Camino Felanitx, before a solo performance of Andrew Yorks Emergence.
The Tuesday Piano Quartet, featuring, among others, William Smith alumna Jane Hoose Bentsen and HWS piano instructor Meg Heaton, will perform Johannes Brahmss Symphony No. 3 (Mvt. 3: Poco allegretto) and Kevin Olsons Perpetual Commotion.
Heaton will also accompany cellist Celeste Smith 12 on David Poppers Fond Recollections, Op. 64/1, saxophonist Kathyrn Lamardo 13 on Paule Maurices Tableaux de Provence (Mvt. 5: Lou Cabridan) and soprano vocalist Keira Carmichael 13 on Carlisle Floyds Trees on the Mountain from the opera Susannah.
Piano instructor Bob Barbuto will direct the HWS Jazz Ensemble in B.J. Joness No Way and Topazs Let Go.
All are invited to come listen to these wonderful numbers in this outstanding showcase of student, faculty, staff and local talent.
