26 February 2015 Lucker 14 Lands Job at Deloitte

Connor Lucker 14 was recently hired as a financial consultant for Deloitte, a leading international consulting company that provides services in auditing, financial advisory, risk management, taxes and related professional services for some of the worlds most admired brands.

In his new role, Lucker consults with financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies on how to manage their trading, operational and treasury procedures. He is based at Deloittes Manhattan office, with travel responsibilities.

It keeps things refreshing for me to work out of three or four different offices each week, Lucker says. This is also a great way to stay closer to clients in helping with their business problems and managing real world change.

At the Colleges, Lucker was an international relations major with a double minor in economics and Spanish. He says his academic track was instrumental in preparing him for his job with Deloitte.

The HWS liberal arts curriculum helps you be a problem solver in any situation outside your expertise, which is key in the real world, Lucker says.

During his time as a student, Lucker attended two of the HWS finance trips to Wall Street, an annual behind the scenes program that connects students to alums, parents and friends of the Colleges who work in the worlds leading financial institutions.

The Finance Experience Program really helped me develop my contacts and think about my future, which I think is a really important thing if you want a leg up while still in college, he says. All in all, if I had any advice for current students, it boils down to working with the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, and being effective at external networking. I really cant stress enough how much career services and HWS alums always help.

On campus, Lucker was a member of the Investment Club and the HWS College Republicans. In 2012, he also interned with the Connecticut Republican during the Presidential Elections.
