Making his NBC debute, actor and director Joshua Warr 05 appeared on the critically-acclaimed television show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit this season. Warr played a gangster on episode 7 of the series, Chicago Crossover, which airred on NBC Nov. 12 at 9 p.m.
I have found my home in acting, and I look forward to what my future holds, says Warr of the experience, and the opportunity to film alongside Law & Order: SVU actors Ice-T and Danny Pino.
Now in its 16th season, Law & Order: SVU is the longest running primetime drama on television. The show, which was created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, follows the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department.
Warr says the opportunity to work on the show has been an important, life-changing experience. He says he hopes that his work on NBC this season will get him one step closer to getting noticed by other producers in the industry.
For the audition, Warr was asked to show up in costume at the casting office. I was super excited to try out something new and darker than I was used to, he says.
The audition went well and Warr received a callback the very same day. He was told to return to the casting office in the same outfit but this time, in front of the shows producers and the director.
After going through the second rounds and being offered the role, Warr found out his audition was only a way for producers to see the character within Warrs acting. Instead, the Law & Order: SVU producers wanted Warr to appear in a role as a gangster named GQ.
The filming took place at night near Christopher Street Pier in New York City. It was Warrs manager who helped him land the role with the well-known NBC series.
Warr is currently working on several theatre projects, including a play about Judy Garland and Edith Piaf. He also plays Harris in the hit web series, Hunting Season. In 2013, Warr joined with actress Nancy Sun to produce the play, An Infinite Ache.
Warr says he would like to one day work with Brad Falchuk 94, L.H.D.14, who is the co-creator, writer, executive producer and director of the Fox series Glee and co-creator, executive producer and writer of FX networks American Horror Story.
He graduated from the Maggie Flanigan Studio and holds a B.A. in French and Francophone studies with a minor in dance from HWS. While at the Colleges, he was a member of Koshare and Chimera and received the Presidents Public Service Award. Following graduation, he starred as the villain personality in TLCs reality dinner party competition, Dinner Takes All, a reality television program consisting of five dinner party hosts, five separate dinner parties, taking place over five consecutive days.
In addition, Warr has danced internationally in locations such as South Korea, as well as in off-Broadway productions at the American Theatre of Actors. He has worked with choreographer Susan Streater, can be seen in Joonhan Lees Columbia M.F.A. film, Sketchbook, in which he originated the role of David, and was in La MaMa E.T.C.s Soul Ascending directed by George Ferencz.
