Aaron Frishman 00, a trust and estate lawyer with Bond Schoeneck & King, PLLC, in Syracuse, N.Y., was named to the 40 Under Forty class of 2014 by Bizeventz, a company in the Business Journal News Network. Im flattered and honored that I was selected for the award it wasnt something I was expecting, says Frishman, who recently returned to the Central New York area with his wife and son after living for several years in Colorado. Im just humbled by thislevel of recognition given to younger individuals who are trying to make the most out of the community theyre living in. Bizeventzs 40 Under Forty award recognizes young professionals in the Central New York region for excelling in the workplace and for giving back to their community. Past 40 Under Forty winners represent a virtual whos who of up and coming Central New York leaders in the business and nonprofit sectors. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges that includes community leaders and past recipients of the award. To be honest, Im mostexcited to seeand meettheotherpeople selected and learn more aboutthe diversity of their work, Frishman says. I feel that sometimes, younger professionalsdont necessarilyreceivethat kind of recognition publicly, or even privately. Itsgreat for the communityto get these people together toboth support their workand foster collaborationto makethe regionmore attractive for young people. Its a good spark to help engage and connect leaders already tryingto do positivethings on their own. At Bond Schoeneck & King, Frishman practices in all areas of trusts and estates and elder law matters, focusing on estate and tax planning, trusts, guardianships, estate and trust administration, Medicaid planning, and other elder law and public benefits matters. He also frequently provides legal assistance to personal injury attorneys pertaining to the protection of settlement proceeds. He has lectured to individuals and at state bar associations on numerous estate planning and elder law issues and has been published nationally by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.He recently became a member of the Public Benefits Panel of the NYSBA Elder Law Section. At HWS, Frishman majored in history and double minored in sociology and Holocaust studies, graduatingmagna cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2005. He is a member of the New York State and Colorado Bar Associations, in the Trust and Estate Sections and Elder Law Sections; a member of the Onondaga County Bar Associations Volunteer Lawyers Project as Surrogates Court Legal Clinic Volunteer and Upstate Medical Center Legal Clinic Volunteer; a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and a steering committee member of F.O.C.U.S. Greater Syracuse Age-FriendlyCentral New York Study. He has been active in the Syracuse community through the Jewish Federation of Syracuse Young Leadership Program,YMCA Camp Cory, the Central New York chapter of the Alzheimers Association and Temple Concord. The 40 Under Forty awards luncheon for the 2014 honorees will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Oncenter in Syracuse.
