Hobart and William Smith Colleges Sailing Head Coach Scott Ikle 84 will welcome back All-American sailor Bridget Nannig 13 as an assistant coach this season.
I look forward to Bridgets return to the HWS sailing program, said Ikle.She will be a great asset to this years very young team.Her experience as a captain, an All-American and as a competitor at multiple national championships will provide increasable insight into what it takes to be successful in college sailing.
The three-year captain earned All-MAISA crew and ICSA All-America crew honors following her senior season. She competed in seven ICSA championships during her collegiate career. Nannig represented the Colleges in the ICSA Dinghy National Championship all four years and competed in the team race national championship three times. She helped HWS capture second overall at the dinghy national championship in 2011 and earned her best team race finish in 2012 helping the Colleges finish third overall. Nannig was presented with the Ady Symonds 96 Most Valuable Sailing Award as a junior and a senior and earned the Christine Jurczak 00 Sailing Coachs Award as a first-year.
Nannig was also a member of the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee for three years while a student at William Smith.
A native of North Kingstown, R.I., Nannig returns to HWS after having earned her master of arts in teaching from the Colleges in 2014 and graduating with a bachelor of arts in mathematics in 2013.
She coached sailing for five years at the Wickford Sailing Association and has been a substitute teacher at Mynderse Academy since January 2014.
The 2013-14 Hobart and William Smith sailing team competed in three championship regattas to cap its fall season and Heron sailors secured their best finish in program history taking seventh at the ICSA Womens National Championship to close out the spring.
