NPR selected the Commencement Address given by James Carville at the Colleges 2013 Commencement ceremonies as among The Best Commencement Speeches, Ever. In compiling the list, editors noted they hand picked over 300 addresses going back to 1774.
Carville, one of Americas best-known political commentators and a leading citizen in the revitalization of post-Katrina New Orleans, delivered the 2013 Commencement Address at Hobart and William Smith Colleges on May 19, 2013, and was presented an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
NPR quotes a portion of Carvilles address, When [youre scared] go back to the days of your childhood, go in the 100 Acre Wood, take a deep breath and just say, Im stronger than I seem, Im braver than I believe, and Im smarter than I think.'
