The Hobart College rowing teams top two crews swept a day of double dual racing against Bucknell University and the College of the Holy Cross on Saturday.
The Hobart varsity eight of Sam Zuckerman,Joe Biesemeyer,Robert McNamara,August Wherry,Brett Lawhon,Davis Muller,Patrick Ware,Milos Milosavljevic, andW. Hunter Holtz were ranked 20th in the nation in this weeks USRowing poll and dominated both the Bison and the Crusaders. Against Bucknell, Hobart raced home in 6:29.73 with 16.74 seconds to spare. Later in the day against Holy Cross, the Statesmen crossed the finish line in 6:17.07, winning by 7.19 seconds.
Hobarts second varsity eight of Jessica Dinan, Austin Letorney, Matthew Sylvan, Owen Monahan, Nicholas Baca, D. Griffin Marsh, Dylan Brodie, John Hibbard, and Chris DePaola was very impressive against Bucknell, winning by more than 20 seconds with a time of 6:39.34. Against Holy Cross, the Statesmen still had plenty of speed, finishing in 6:29.54 to the Crusaders 6:43.05.
The Hobart third varsity eight raced Holy Cross third varsity eight as well as the first freshmen eights from Bucknell and Georgetown. The Hoyas won in 6:32.77 followed by the Crusaders (6:37.24), the Bison (6:48.91), and the Statesmen (6:51.75).
Hobarts fourth varsity eight took on Holy Cross fourth varsity eight and Georgetowns second freshman eight. The Crusaders posted a winning time of 6:58.4 followed by the Statesmen in 7:13.2 and the Hoyas in 7:33.61.
Hobart will seek its ninth consecutive Liberty League Championship on Sunday, April 27, on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
