The annual Benjamin Hale dinner, named for a former president of Hobart College, was held on Tuesday, April 15. The traditional Hobart year-end event featured Jordan Printup 13, an admissions intern at HWS, who will present a talk titled, Two Worlds, One Journey. Recognizing Hobart students who have excelled in academics, the dinner was held at 6:15 p.m. in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center.
The Hobart Deans also welcomed a student speaker, Aaron OBrien 14, a sociology major and child advocacy minor. A native of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., OBrien is a member of the Kappa Alpha Society, as well as a Hobart Heritage Scholar.
OBrien speech was about Three guarantees in life, and not letting your accomplishments define you.
Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric Hannah Dickinson presented awards in the humanities. Assistant Professor of Geoscience David Finkelstein presented awards in the natural sciences, and Instructor of Political Science Justin Rose presented awards in the social sciences. Lastly, Assistant Professor of Economics Elizabeth Ramey named the new inductees to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Printup earned a B.A. in religious studies from Hobart College and minored in anthropology and Holocaust studies. As a student, he was a member of the Native American Student Association and played club lacrosse. Printup was named to deans list and was the recipient of the Presidents Civic Leadership Award.
