The dance department will host its junior/senior choreographers concert, Collaborations on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Winn-Seeley Theatre.

This years concert is advised by Professor of Dance Donna Davenport and includes choreography from Emily Bower 15, Bonnie Bushnell 14, Karah Charette 14, Jenna Davidson-Catalano 14, Mary Dinan 15, Emily Dove 14, Sara McKinney 14, and Kaitley Wozer 15. A range of contemporary works will be performed, including original and live music and prose as well as guest performers from the Geneva community. Titles include: To the Moon and Back, Proprietary, Its an Education, Newsprint, Derivations of, Colors Collide, Concealment, Excerpt from Belonging, Solas and Chiaroscuro.

The first senior choreographers concert premiered in 1996 when dance major Jeanne Schickler Compisi 96 produced a solo concert. Schickler Compisi received her MFA in Dance from NYU-Tisch School of the Arts a few years later and now performs with BIODANCE company and runs her own private Pilates studio in Rochester.

In 2010, the dance department opened the annual show to juniors and is now a platform whereby declared junior and senior dance majors and minors who have taken classes in dance composition can perform their work in a formal concert. Only dances deemed compositionally strong are included in the concert. Students must have proposals approved in the fall semester and there are two showings of works in progress. The department faculty attend the first showing to see the dances in their early phases and offer each choreographer critique on his/her work. An outside reviewer comes to adjudicate the second showing, at which point dances must be finished and mostly polished.

Admission to the junior/senior choreographers concert is free. Choreographers will be collecting donations at the door for kitchen supplies for the Geneva Community Lunch Program.
