Christian Dengler, director of the Berlin Studio of Norwich School of Architecture and Art, will present Cause and Effect: Architecture and Design in Berlin, a luncheon talk presented by the Center for Global Education and the Department of Art and Architecture on Thursday, March 27.
HWS students can apply to study abroad at the Norwich School in Berlin; the program is excellent for those seeking in-depth studio architecture experience in a Central European context. The program takes advantage of the citys unique history, including the devastation of World War II, more than 40 years of separation during the Cold War, and vibrant development since reunification. The talk will take place at 12 p.m. in Houghton 112. Lunch will be provided.
Were very pleased to be able to welcome Professor Dengler to campus to talk about opportunities available for our students to study in Berlin, as well as to present about his experiences as an architect and designer there, says Tom DAgostino, associate dean for global education, noting the new Julius Blocker 53 Fellowship program has enabled the Center for Global Education and the German Area Studies program to develop a range of new study abroad opportunities in Germany. Professor Denglers visit is part of our effort to raise the profile of Germany as a potential destination for our students.
Dengler explains on his design firms website that Architecture is the physical presence of the principle of Cause and Effect. It transforms social processes into aesthetic values and bridges the gap between history and now.
