18 November 2013 Maccarone 74 Publishes Childrens Book

Grace Maccarone 74 had her illustrated childrens book, Princess Tales: Once Upon a Time in Rhyme with Seek-and-Find Pictures, published this fall by Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of MacMillan Publishers.

Written for children ages 4 to 6, the book features 10 of the most beloved princess stories in childrens literature. The narratives are retold by Maccarone, with the accompanying illustrations by Gail de Marcken. Included among these well-known tales are: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Princess and the Pea, and Snow White. There also are cleverly hidden details within the books illustrations.

The newest of Maccarones publications, Princess Tales: Once Upon a Time in Rhyme with Seek-and-Find Pictures, gained praise from Publishers Weekly, which called it, a splendid reimagining of favorite stories.

In addition, a review in The Wall Street Journal notes, These are paintings to pore over: depictions of familiar fairy tales in sometimes unusual settings that are each filled with tiny seek-and-find details The accompanying text by Grace Maccarone rattles along in droll rhyme that is a pleasure to read aloud.

A childrens book editor and author, Maccarone works for Holiday House, Inc. She worked as an editor at Scholastic and has many books out. She has nine childrens books, all of which are available in the alum section of The College Store at HWS.

At the Colleges, Maccarone earned a B.A. in English and art history.
