18 March 2002 First Templeton Lecturer Wins Templeton Prize

Mary Gerhart, professor of religious studies, wishes to inform the campus that John Polkinghorne the first Templeton lecturer in the annual series co-sponsored by the Colleges, was the 2002 Templeton Prize recipient, receiving $1,000,000. John C. Polkinghorne is a mathematical physicist and Anglican priest. His best-known books include The Way the World Is (1983), The Faith of a Physicist (1994), and Belief in God in an Age of Science (1998).
