American Horror Story, a television program by Brad Falchuk 93 and fellow Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, has landed 17 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. The show premiered last October on the FX Network. Falchuk and Murphy are the recipients of multiple Emmys for Glee.
In an article about this years Emmy Award nominees, CNN noted American Horror Story and AMCs Mad Men (which also garnered 17) had the most Primetime Emmy Award nominations this year.
Falchuk received his B.A. in English from Hobart in 1993. He began his career as a screenwriter on science fiction shows such as Mutant X, Earth: Final Conflict and Veritas: The Quest. Falchuk went on to write for the award-winning FX series Nip/Tuck, where he also served as a director and executive producer. Falchuk continues to write and serve as executive producer for Fox hit series Glee.

American Horror Story, Mad Men lead Emmy nominations

Los Angeles (CNN) FX Networks American Horror Story and AMCs Mad Men landed the most Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with 17 apiece. Downton Abbey, from PBS had 16 nods.
Thirteen shows received 11 or more nominations.
The nominations were announced Thursday by actress Kerry Washington and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who stepped in at the last moment to substitute for Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman, who couldnt make it because of bad weather.
HBOs Boardwalk Empire, which was the biggest winner last year with eight Emmy wins, garnered 12 nominations.
Last years winners for Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Drama Modern Family and Mad Men, respectively are once again nominees in those categories.
Downton Abbey won for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie last year but this year was nominated in the drama category.
HBO had a strong presence in the comedy series category, with three of its shows nominated: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Girls and Veep. The other nominees for comedy series were 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory.
The rest of the nominees for drama series were Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland and Game of Thrones.
HBO led all outlets with 81 total nominations. For the major networks, CBS had the most nominations with 60, while ABC had 48, NBC had 51, and Fox had 26.
There were many familiar names among the actors and actresses nominated, including Steve Buscemi, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey and Claire Danes.
First-time nominees include Mayim Bialik, Hugh Bonneville and Zooey Deschanel.
The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be September 23 on ABC, with Kimmel as host.
