12 June 2012 Internship is Home Run

Peter Cruice 13 is spending the summer in Philadelphia, working as an intern in the fan development and outreach department of his favorite Major League Baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies. Cruice is hoping to make contacts, expose himself to valuable resources, and gain quality experience throughout his time working with the team.

Im looking forward to experiencing a greater understanding of the sports industry, says Cruice, whose career goal is to become a general manager of a professional sports team. This internship will help me learn more about the industry and it also serves as a great resume booster.

A writing and rhetoric major and public policy minor, Cruice is assisting in a variety of the organizations community programs. One such program for example, RBI, is aimed at providing baseball to inner-city children. Cruice will teach children at various sites the basic fundamentals of the sport, while promoting activeness within the game.

Cruice previously worked with the local Boys and Girls Club in Nantucket, Mass., helping children learn various sports and taking the participants on bicycle rides with the goal of encouraging physical activity in childrens daily lives.

Upon receiving his bachelors degree, Cruice hopes to attend graduate school to receive his masters in sports management.
