D'Addario Elected All-District
31 May 2012 DAddario Elected All-District
William Smith College junior Emily DAddario was elected to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Womens Track & Field/Cross Country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A health sciences major, DAddario earned a spot on the 2011 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and Liberty League All-Academic teams.
A soccer player during her first two years on campus, DAddario switched sports this season due to injury. Despite having never run cross country, she produced one of the finest seasons in Heron history. DAddario won her first three races and finished the year with five victories. She registered three course records during the season and was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week seven times.
DAddario earned first team All-Liberty League and was later voted the Liberty League Rookie of the Year after finishing second in the conference championship. In the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, she placed seventh in a field of 256 runners to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honoree became just the second Heron to run in the national championship meet, placing 135th out of 277.
At the 2012 William Smith Athletics Awards Banquet, DAddario was presented with the Hazel Nettleship Hardy 65 Award and the Sharon Peckham Best 62 Most Valuable Cross Country Award.
To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or significant reserve, and be at least a sophomore academically. As a first team selection, DAddario will advance to the national Academic All-America ballot.
