After a long year of ugly sweater parties and homecoming soirees, the Classes of 2012 graduated from Hobart and William Smith as keepers of a new record: most successful Annual Giving campaign in HWS history.
Were very happy to say that 77 percent of seniors donated to HWS. Thats the highest rate of giving in Stewardsons history, says Director of Reunion and Class Campaigns Skylar Beaver 08. They understand that its important to give back so that future generations of students can benefit from the same great education.
Led by Tri-Chairs Corey McClintock 12, Brian Horn 12 and Meredith Ciaccia 12, members of the Classes of 2012 raised more than $10,000 by joining the Stewardson Society, the Colleges senior giving society. As in past years, Board Chair David H. Deming 75 agreed to match every senior donation dollar-for-dollar.
It was a rewarding experience to see so many of my classmates give back to the Colleges, says McClintock. They clearly understand how important the Annual Fund is. It is my hope that my peers will continue to give back year after year.
When seniors give back to Hobart and William Smith, they are more likely to continue giving after they graduate, says Director of Annual Giving Kristen Einstein. These students are entering the work force with a strong sense of pride knowing that they left their alma mater a better place and that their degree carries value.
Named for the first president of the combined Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the Stewardson Society brings together members of the senior classes to present a gift to the Colleges in honor of their impending graduation. This tradition, which began in the 1980s, unites the seniors with the alums who have preceded them and supported their experience while also connecting them to the current students who follow.
