Pride Alliance April Events
27 March 2012 Pride Alliance April Events
Robyn Ochs, a gender-equality activist and editor of the anthology Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World will present a workshop on Thursday, April 4.
The interactive discussion on bisexuality, called Beyond Binaries, will explore the landscape of sexual orientation and the relationship between experience and self-identity, and the way people are read by others. Sponsored by the Pride Alliance, the workshop will begin at 7 p.m. in the Geneva Room.
The Pride Alliance will then present Music Backwards on Friday, April 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Albright Auditorium. Student a cappella groups and performers will sing songs that are usually presented by a single gender.
Finally, on Friday April 20, there will be a Day of Silence. This is a national day of observance each year where people make the decision to stay silent to protest the bullying of the LBGT community. This is a powerful experience for anyone who chooses to participate. To learn more about the Day of Silence, visit http://www.dayofsilence.org/.
