HWS Sailing Finishes 4th in St. Mary's
12 March 2012 HWS Sailing Finishes 4th in St. Marys
The Hobart and William Smith sailing team took fourth out of 10 teams at the St. Marys Team Race in St. Marys Md., this weekend. William Smith sailors also claimed eighth out of 20 teams at the Navy Spring Womens Race in Annapolis, Md.

HWS posted a 7-2 record in the first round of competition, picking up wins over Boston College, Georgetown, Navy, Roger Williams, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Yale.
In the second round, HWS defeated Georgetown, Navy, Roger Williams, St. Marys and Wisconsin, and suffered four losses for a 12-6 overall mark. HWS advanced to the final four along with Boston College, Georgetown and Stanford. The HWS sailing team lost to Georgetown, but defeated Stanford and was edged by Boston College to finish fourth overall.
William Smith sailors, sophomoresArielle deLisserandJane Rewcompeted in the A Division in Annapolis, Md., over the weekend. They claimed sixth place, registering 13 finishes in the top 10 in their 20 races, including seven top five finishes. The pair posted two wins as part of a strong finish to the regatta. They claimed fourth, first, fourth and first place finishes in their final four races. In the B Division, sophomoreBrooke Lyon, sophomore Morgan Gould, and first-yearMarnie Merrillfinished 11th. They posted eight top 10 finishes.
HWS will be back in action next weekend, March 17-18. HWS will compete in Annapolis, Md., at the Truxton Umstead, and William Smith sailors will be on the water in St. Marys, Md., at the St. Marys Womens Regatta.
