Indie Bible Cover features Alumna
22 December 2011 Indie Bible Cover features Alumna
A photo of Merrill Amos 11 is featured on the cover of the 13th edition of Indie Bible, a directory of labels, publications and radio stations for independent musicians. The photo that was chosen for the cover was taken by her classmate and freelance photographer Amy Nimon 11.
Amos, a self-taught musician, singer and song-writer, has already established her music career. She has worked with acclaimed artists such as Skylar Grey, Carolina Liar, SafetySuit and Reel Big Fish, as well as playing a variety of venues from festivals to fundraisers, in addition to producing concerts for other artists and causes up and down the East Coast.
During her senior year, she performed at International Womens Day, Moving Up Day and at Reunion Weekend. In July, 2011, she performed at the Womens Right to Rock (WR2R) Festival in the home of the Womens Rights Movement, Seneca Falls, N.Y. The festival hosted 30 female-fronted bands over the course of three days. Amos graduated from William Smith with a degree in womens studies and political science, an area that deeply inspires her lyrics.
Nimon graduated summa cum laude from William Smith College with a B.A. in studio art and writing and rhetoric. She had a minor in media and society. In April, Nimon had a show at the Red Dove Tavern, which featured 11 photographs she has taken while attending William Smith. The collection was an assortment of different portraits that range from class assignments to explorations from her time traveling abroad in Paris.
