Journalist, critic and translator Wyatt Mason will come to campus on Thursday, Nov. 17 as the final reader of the fall Trias-in-Residency Reading Series. His talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Geneva Room.
Mason is a contributing editor of Harpers Magazine. He also has written for the New Yorker, The New Republic, The London Review of Books, The New York Times Book Review, The Nation, Slate, and The New York Times Magazine. Additionally, the Modern Library published Masons translation of the works of Arthur Rimbaud titled, I Promise to Be Good: The Letters of Arthur Rimbaud.
In 2003-2004, Mason was named a fellow of the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. In 2005, he received the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing from the National Book Critics Circle. In 2006, he earned a National Magazine Award for exhibiting endless erudition and a singular tireless focus on quality in his reviews and criticism for Harpers.
The Trias Residency Reading Series is supported by The Peter Trias Endowed Fund for Poetry and Creative Writing. This valuable fund was established through a generous bequest fromPeter J. Trias 70.
There are so many things that will inevitably come of this program that arent visible. It will increase a sense of connection between [the Colleges] and writing, says Melanie Conroy-Goldman, director of the Trias Residency for Writers.
