10 November 2011 Lavin 95 Writes of Gnomes and Heroes

J.P. Lavin 95 is co-writing the adaptation of How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack, a novel by Chuck Sambuchino. Lavin is working with Chad Damiani. The team previously scripted the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards show and are currently screenwriting a movie based on Mattels Max Steel toy, as well as comic book adaptations Geronimo, Youngblood and Capeshooters. Lavin has served on the writers panel of the Colleges L.A. Experience program, held over winter break, for the past three years.

According to Deadline New York, the Garden Gnome film is live action, with animated gnomes. It has been optioned by Sony Pictures Animation and is being produced by Robert Zemeckis and ImageMovers partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey with The Gotham Groups Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson.

The book is a survival guide, preparing the homeowner on the off chance the lawn ornaments stage a home invasion. The intention is to make an edgy PG-13 version, so the gnomes will be scary, notes Deadline.

Lavin earned a B.A. in Individual Studies from Hobart College and is represented by WME and Luber/Roklin.
