Hobart and William Smith Colleges

Two Hobart College student-athletes earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Sailing Association last week. Senior David Thompson was named an All-American skipper, while junior Chris Klevan was tabbed an All-American crew.

A team captain, Thompson was Hobart's most active skipper this season. He sailed to a fourth place finish in A Division at the ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship last week in Cascade Locks, Ore., as Hobart and William Smith finished second as a team. Thompson also helped the Colleges to a sixth place finish in the ICSA Team Race National Championship. His regular season highlights include a victory in the Admiral Moore Team Race Regatta, a second place finish in A Division at the Thompson Trophy, and a second place showing in B Division at the America Trophy.

Thompson also sailed in the 2009 and 2010 ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championships.

Klevan sailed in B Division at this year's ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship, helping HWS to a third place finish. He also competed in the ICSA Team Race National Championship. Klevan's regular season highlights include, victory at the Admiral Moore, a third place effort in B Division at the HWS Fall Intersectional, crewing HWS to a fourth place showing in A Division and a fourth place team finish at the America Trophy, and competing in A Division as HWS claimed fourth place in the War Memorial.

Thompson's is the 24th All-America skipper award won by a Statesman and the first since Jay Mills '08 earned honorable mention in 2008. Klevan's is the 19th All-America crew award captured by an HWS sailor.

Last week, senior Caroline Patten was named an ICSA Women's Skipper honorable mention All-American. The three All-America awards are the most in a season for HWS since garnering four in 2006.

Since 1996, Hobart and William Smith sailors have earned All-America recognition 45 times.
