Artwork by Assistant Professor of Art Christine Chin has landed a prestigious spot on display in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Photographs from Chins series Alternative Alternative Energy: Moth Generator, can be seen at the New Mexico Museum of Arts Earth Now: American Photographers and the Environment exhibition though early October.
Chins photographs and work on her Alternative Alternative Energy series are meant to push the boundaries that exist when we conceptualize alternate forms of energy. We believe that clean energy can be created using local resources in innovative ways, says Chin in her mission statement. We conceptualize custom energy solutions for local communities. Our proposed designs are meant to encourage communities to consider possibilities beyond the established fossil fuel-based energy economy.
The Earth Now exhibition also features works by iconic photographers Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter, and seeks to encourage visitors to think about their relationship with the environment and the impact of they make as individuals and as part of a larger society. The museums exhibition also features the works of emerging artists that range from documentary to conceptual, touching on the environment, pollution, waste, food production, energy consumption and the wide reaching effects of humankind on our planet.
