Hobart and William Smith Colleges second annual Springfest will take place this year from April 22 through the 28th. Campus Activities Board has arranged a week full of exciting activities and performers, culminating in a Reel Big Fish concert set to take place on Saturday, April 30.

Springfest will kick off on the 22nd with comedian Myq (pronounced Mike) Kaplan. A 2010 Last Comic Standing finalist, Kaplan has appeared on the Tonight Show, Comedy Central Presents, and many other shows. His CD, Vegan Mind Meld, was one of iTunes top 10 best-selling comedy albums in2010. He will perform in Albright Auditorium at 8 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 26, a Build-a-Bear station will be set up in the Scandling Campus Center for those who want to create their own stuffed animals.

College entertainer and TV star Justin Kredible will be performing in Albright Auditorium at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Kredible is the host of the hit show Cupcake Wars on the Food Network, stars on the new show HubWorld on the Hub Network, and guest-stars as Armando the Amazing on the Disney Channel sitcom, The Suite Life on Deck. His witty mix of comedy and magic has quickly established him as one of Americas premier performers. Hes appeared more than 20 times on the Rachael Ray Show and was just voted College Entertainer of the Year 2010 by Campus Activities Magazine for a record-breaking fourth year in a row.

For the grand finale of Springfest, there will be a Reel Big Fish concert on the Quad on Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. Reel Big Fish was one of the legions of Southern California ska punk bands to edge into the mainstream following the mid-90s success of No Doubt and Sublime. Like most of their peers, their hyperkinetic stage shows, juvenile humor, ironic covers of new wave pop songs, and metallic shards of ska distinguished the band. The group cultivated an underground following that broke into the mainstream in summer 1997, when their single Sell Out became a modern rock radio and MTV favorite. Their appearance in the movie Basketball as the halftime band also gained them more fans and helped the bands popularity to grow.
