The HWS Campus Activities Board will host a Reel Big Fish concert on the Quad for members of the HWS community on Saturday, April 30. Opening for the band will be the The Scope, a band composed of Hobart students.

Reel Big Fish is an alternative rock band from Huntington Beach, Calif., whose members have been performing together for more than 15 years. The group is well known for its 1997 hit single Sell Out. Its album Turn the Radio Off, which hosted the single, was certified gold that year and lasted 32 weeks on the Billboard charts. Reel Big Fish has released seven complete studio albums. The bands latest album, A Best of Us for the Rest of Us, was released in January of 2010. CAB organizers expect the band to play many of their hit songs, old and new, while on campus.

Opening for Reel Big Fish is, The Scope comprised of Hobart students, Andrew Tarnas-Raskan 11, Sarik Kumar 11 and Andrew Mahoney 11.

As a student band, we have been exposed to some extraordinary opportunities at the Colleges. We developed afollowing on campus early on in ourcareer and, in the spring of 2009, wewere asked to open for Robert Randolph and the Family Band, explains Tarnas-Raskin. He noted the show went very well and since then theyve been asked to open for Girl Talk, State Radio and now Reel Big Fish.

We jump at every opportunity to play with these world class bands because many groups mayperform their whole lives in hopes of playing such shows, yet in the three years weve been together, weve been able to play multiple performances with toptier acts like these.
