Weiss '69 Produces HBO Documentary
8 April 2011 Weiss 69 Produces HBO Documentary
The issue of gun control in the United States is complex. Shrouded in discussions on morality and personal rights, it is an ongoing and heated debate that is not likely to be put to rest anytime soon. On Wednesday, April 13, Gun Fight, a documentary produced by Marc Weiss 69, will premier on HBO at 9 p.m.
Directed by Barbara Kopple, who has won academy awards for her films Harlan County, USA, and American Dream, the film examines gun violence in America, and the inflexible debate about what is to be done to reduce violence, while protecting the rights of U.S. citizens. Critics say that Gun Fight, is complex, hard-hitting, unblinking and provocative.
The first broadcast of the film will occur three days before the 4th anniversary of Virginia Tech, which figures prominently in the film, and one week before the anniversary of Columbine.
Weiss graduated from Hobart College in 1969 with a B.A. in psychology. While on campus, he was a member of the Herald, WEOS, Echo and Pine, and Film Club.
