26 January 2022 Winter Fest Kicks Off Semester

For the second year in a row, Hobart and William Smith’s campus will be transformed into a winter wonderland to welcome students back for the spring semester. Winter Fest will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29, starting at 7 p.m.

Different outdoor locations on campus will host fun seasonal events throughout the night. On the Quad, students can warm up at firepits and roast smores, sled down Trinity Hill, and eat at the Roc City Sammich food truck. Meanwhile, the JPR Parking Lot will house an ice-skating rink and a curling rink, as well as the Macarollin food truck. In front of the Scandling Campus Center, horse-drawn carriages await, along with an ice sculpture, and an HWS knit hat giveaway. Students can head over to the patio of the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts to eat at Tony’s Wood Fired Pizza food truck.

There will be check-in stations at each location for students to get tickets for the food trucks. Masks are required.

The 2021 Winter Fest provided an exciting, COVID-safe event to start off the new semester and is sure to do the same this year, says event organizer, Assistant Dean of Student Engagement Kristen Tobey. “This is really a kick-off event for the winter months and to embrace the winter season in upstate New York.”
