7 March 2018 Vincent Family Makes Home in Geneva

President Gregory J. Vincent '83 and Kim Wilson Vincent are supporting local craftsmanship as the family makes their home in the Presidents House. The Vincents have purchased three tables from Miles & May Furniture Works, a Geneva-based outpost focused on sustainable practices and community outreach.

"It was important to me for the home to include items that represent Geneva," says Kim Wilson Vincent, who has connected with students, community members and alums across the country since moving to the Finger Lakes from Austin, Texas. "These are remarkable artists and it is an honor to have their pieces here."

Nearly 90 percent of Miles & May materials are reclaimed, recycled or from local small businesses. The Vincents new dining room table, coffee table and sideboard are made from wood originating from a single oak tree in Penn Yan, just 17 miles from the Vincents doorstep.

"We draw inspiration from our community and our physical surroundings," the designers Amy and Brandon Phillips say. "This dedication runs deeper than environmental consciousness. Its about sourcing the right material for the right design, and most of our material cant be bought at a lumber yard."
